Danny King collected a six-wicket haul as Hammerwich won their Staffordshire Club Cricket Championship Premier Division clash with Old Wulfrunians.
The foundations for the victory had been laid after Hammers were sent in to bat. King notched 47 before being running out, while fellow opener John Ackrill Jnr top-scored with 54 before being trapped LBW.
Hammerwich were eventually dismissed for 202, but a solid start by Old Wulfrunians soon disappeared as they were skittled out for 191, with King securing figures of 6-58.
Lichfield were unable to derail the title charge of Hawkins Sports as they lost by six wickets.
Opener Dean Price (68) and number three Riley Ward (62) produced an impressive innings after the city side opted to bat first.
The Lichfield batsmen reached 204-7 in their 50 overs, with Hawkins’ Muhammad Fayaz playing the first part of a decisive game with bowling figures of 5-51.
Fayaz’s afternoon got even better as the number three reached 120 not out as the league leaders surpassed the total after 35.1 overs with the loss of just three wickets.
Whittington picked up a winning draw against Wednesbury, thanks in no small part to an impressive 122 from opener Greg Hunt as they posted a total of 283-8.
James Howarth was the pick of the Whittington bowlers as he took 3-38 with Wednesbury only able to make 208-8 from their 50 overs.
Elsewhere in the Premier Division, Aldridge lost to Swindon and Pelsall got the better of Cannock & Rugeley.
