A Lichfield museum is gearing up for a busy half-term.
The Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum will be showcasing a number of pictures that have not been on display for many years as part of the BBC’s Your Paintings project, including a painting of David Garrick.
The return of Lichfield’s famous actor to the museum’s walls has also inspired a craft activity where young visitors can make a mini-theatre, complete with scenery inspired by landscape paintings.
The theatre workshop will take place on February 21 from 11am to 2pm. No booking is required and the session costs £2.
The Your Paintings-inspired activities continue throughout half term and visitors are invited to create an artwork inspired by the museum’s paintings and have it displayed in a half-term gallery. There is also a special trail, as well as dressing up fun.
Jo Wilson from the Birthplace Museum said: “We have an exciting half term in store and we’re looking forward to helping families follow in David Garrick’s footsteps with the creation of our mini theatres, as well as encouraging everybody to find out about our wonderful painting collection in partnership with the BBC Your Paintings project.
“We are looking forward to seeing how our half-term gallery develops throughout the week.”
