Lichfield City FC picked up all three points after seeing off the challenge of Racing Club Warwick.
The Brownsfield Park side picked up their first Midland Football League Division One victory under new boss Gary Birch after a hard-working display.
New signing Dave Carns was thrown straight into the action wearing the number nine shirt, but it was the player in the opposite number nine shirt who made the early headlines after being sent off for an off the ball incident.
But Lichfield failed to make their numerical advantage count with debutant Carns firing just over as chances came and went.
The numerical advantage failed to last until half-time as City’s Lewis Hayden saw red for a second booking.
The setback didn’t stop the chances flowing though as Carns saw another effort go close before full-back Jordan Hunt finally broke the deadlock by beating four players on his way to goal to give Lichfield the lead.
And Carns got the debut goal his work deserved as he wrapped up the points.
The result sees City climb to eighth in the table ahead of their visit to struggling Heather St Johns tomorrow (October 21).
