Join the Darwin Ensemble Chamber Orchestra for a musical tribute to the archetypal eighteenth-century grand tour through Europe, taking in France, Germany and Italy as well as pieces from these shores. The story conveyed by DECO’s music-making will be brought to life through live narration, taking the form of a series of letters written during one eighteenth-century Grand Tour.
The programme comprises Purcell’s Chacony, Couperin’s Sarabande and Chaconne, Telemann’s Concerto for flute and bassoon, Vivaldi’s La Tempesta di Mare for flute, oboe and bassoon, Pachelbel’s Canon and Gigue, and finally Handel’s Concerto Grosso for oboe and violin.
