Drivers in Lichfield and Burntwood are being urged to take extra care as firefighters prepare to walk out.
Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service will be providing reduced cover between 10am and 2pm tomorrow (November 13) as members of the Fire Brigades Union go out on strike again.
And chief fire office Peter Dartford is warning people using the region’s road to take extra care.
“Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service has plans in place for this fresh round of industrial action and we will be answering and responding to all life risk incidents,” he said. “However, we will be unable to provide our usual emergency response cover during the strike so it is vital that people do all they can to ensure their own and other people’s safety.
“In the last few days there have been a number of serious road traffic collisions on Staffordshire’s roads, including two on the same day in daylight in which a person tragically lost their life and another where we were called upon to extricate a casualty trapped in a vehicle.
“This next strike is planned to take place in daylight hours on Wednesday. However, drivers should not be complacent as we are now well into November and road surfaces are wet and may be slippery from fallen leaves. There is also a danger of branches and other debris being blown on to roadways.”
