A worldwide effort has seen a Burntwood teenager raise £1million for charity.
Stephen Sutton wrote earlier this week about nearing the end of his battle with incurable cancer.
The post sparked a flood of donations after a number of celebrities – led by comedian Jason Manford – backed his campaign to reach the milestone fundraising figure before his death.
The 19-year-old’s story featured on media around the world as news of his deteriorating condition broke.
He wrote on Facebook: “I will continue fighting for as long as I can and whatever happens next I want you all to know I am currently in a good place mentally and at ease with the situation.
“That’s it from me. But life has been good. Very good.”
Comic Jason Manford took up the challenge of smashing Stephen’s fundraising total through the £1million barrier.
He said: “Goodnight God bless Stephen Sutton, sleep peacefully knowing that you made a difference. I will remember you every time I catch myself taking life for granted.
“It was an honour to have met you, you superb boy.”
