FUNDING will be used for extra police patrols in a bid to tackle anti-social behaviour in Staffordshire.
The Staffordshire Commissioner has been allocated £1million as part of a national programme.
It will be spent stepping up patrols in known hotspots for anti-social behaviour, knife crime and violence across the county.
The funding comes as national Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week – which runs until 6th July – focuses on ensuring communities can stay safe.
Staffordshire Commissioner Ben Adams said there were processes in place for police and other organisations to support residents in tackling local problems.
“We’ve seen a reduction in anti-social behaviour over recent years, but it remains a priority for me and I welcome this week’s national focus on tackling an issue which can be harmful to victims and communities.
“Police, councils, housing associations and others all work together to tackle anti-social behaviour through Community Safety Partnerships – and I’ve committed funding to strengthen these.
“However, it’s important that people continue to take a stand against in their communities. Please make use of the resources available to you, such as case reviews and community remedies, and report incidents to Staffordshire Police by calling 101.”
