Budding songwriters in Lichfield and Burntwood are being asked to pen a number as part of a competition linked to a local music festival.
The Lichfield Arts L2F Festival contest is open to anyone who has an unpublished, self-penned number that broadly fits into the global folk tradition.
The winning entry will take home a cash prize and the chance to attend a Songwriting Forum with John Tamms.
Finalists will also be invited to perform their songs at the Folk Farm Festival Picnic in September – and two of those will then be invited to the L2F Festival weekend to perform at one of the concerts taking place in October.
John Holland, spokesperson for the competition, said:
“We had some amazing entries in 2021 and with the return of L2F – The Lichfield Festival of Folk – in October we are looking forward to hearing and supporting new songwriting.
“So send us your best songs, because the songwriting competition team look forward to hearing your efforts.”
