Four people have been injured after a car crash in Lichfield.
Two vehicles were involved in the incident on Stafford Road at 11.40am today (November 12).
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find two cars that had been in a serious collision. Both had suffered substantial damage.
“In one car, a man and a woman, both believed to be in their 70’s, were trapped in their vehicle and were treated for their injuries before they were extricated with the assistance of the fire service.
“They were both treated for suspected pelvic injuries and the woman had also suffered a head injured.
“Once released from the car, the woman was airlifted to University Hospital North Staffordshire and the man was transferred by land ambulance to the same hospital for further emergency treatment.
“In the second car, a woman believed to be in her 50’s, suffered pelvis and back injuries and was also trapped in the car. She received treatment at the scene and once released, was airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Major Trauma Unit for further treatment.
“The man in the car, also in his 50’s, suffered abdominal injuries. He was not trapped in the car and was transferred to Walsall Manor Hospital by land ambulance following treatment by paramedics.
“Considering the nature of the collision the occupants of the cars were fortunate not to have suffered more serious or even fatal.”
