Lichfield residents are being offered free support and advice on health, disability and age-related issues.
Staffordshire Cares advisors are encouraging more local people to access the free confidential help on offer.
Information on dealing with day to day hassles, managing your home and garden, avoiding falls and accidents, money advice, healthy living, local things to do and social groups is also available.
Julie Rymond, an advisor in Lichfield, said: “Since Staffordshire Cares was formed last year, it has been a huge help to many residents, especially the elderly or vulnerable. Whether looking for help and advice to adapt a bathroom into a wetroom suitable for a wheelchair user, or as simple as a list of clubs for the over 60’s, the information we can give is invaluable.
“I get a great deal of job satisfaction from helping people and with Staffordshire Cares we really do!
“The help and information can definitely make a difference to people’s quality of life, and I would encourage any resident wanting advice or help to lead a more independent or healthier life to get in touch.”
Since its launch last year, Staffordshire Cares has already helped 50,000 people through its online and phone based service. It’s now expanded to open eight drop-in local advice points across the county, including one in Lichfield.
County Councillor Matthew Ellis added: “Staffordshire Cares is about giving people the choice, control, opportunities and ideas they need to help them live a more independent life.
“Survey after survey has shown us that people want a service that gives them advice, in one place that helps them to live independently. These advice points offer an opportunity for anyone who needs support but prefers to speak with someone face to face, allowing them to gain access to the internet which they may not have at home.
“Although the website has been specially designed to be very easy to use, a lot of people prefer to speak with someone face to face. This is exactly what the local advisors offer—contact with a specially trained advisor who will listen, and can point people in the direction of the services they need.”
