Fresh appeal for witnesses after Lichfield man's death

Police have launched a fresh appeal for witnesses to an assault in a Lichfield city centre bar that resulted in a man's death.

POLICE have launched a fresh appeal for witnesses to an assault in a Lichfield city centre bar that resulted in a man's death.

Officers were called to Ricco and Loren on Market Street at 11.25pm on 24th May to reports of punches being thrown.

Matt O’Gara, 31, was taken to hospital with serious injuries but died two days later.

A second man was also assaulted in the incident. He was taken to hospital and discharged a short time later.

Billy Allison, 36, from Solihull, has been charged with murder and Section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent and is due to appear at Stafford Crown Court on 1st September.

A Staffordshire Police Spokesperson:

"We would urge anyone who has any information which might help our investigation to contact us. We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who gave Matt advanced life support."
