Friends and family of a Lichfield man who has gone missing after failing to return home following a night out are stepping up their efforts to help find him.
Tyler Gardner, 18, was last seen leaving the Manatobo nightclub in High Street, Burton, on Saturday night (February 25), saying he was going to get a taxi home, despite originally planning to stay with family in Burton.
However, the alarm was raised on Sunday when he failed to return – and police admit that they are unsure if he made it back to Lichfield.
Friends of the former Friary School student have now come together on a Facebook page to co-ordinate their efforts to trace him.
As well as scouring his possible route home along the A38, they have also been distributing posters to businesses in villages between Burton and Lichfield.
Inspector Jed White, Lichfield local policing team commander, said: “Tyler has never been missing before and we’re very concerned for his safety.
“It appears he changed his mind about staying with family in Burton and intended to head home to Lichfield after a normal night out. However, we don’t know if Tyler reached Lichfield.
“Since then we’ve carried out extensive inquiries to try and find Tyler – these will continue. We want to speak to anyone who saw, or spoke to, him on Saturday night or on Sunday or who knows where he might be.
“Anyone who has seen him or has any information on his whereabouts is urged to contact Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 374 of February 26.”
