Two General Election candidates in Lichfield have clashed over the prospect of a People’s Vote.
The issue of the UK’s status as a member of the European Union was, predictably, among the questions posed at the hustings event at Wade Street Church.
Lib Dem hopeful Ray said a second referendum was needed to allow people to make a decision on the country’s future now the full facts of Brexit were known. He said:
“We have to get our country back – we do that by stopping Brexit and giving the people a People’s Vote.
“If you want to stop Brexit and have a say on that and build a brighter future, I urge you to vote Lib Dem.”

But his comments drew criticism from Mr Fabricant, who said the answer was not to keep asking the same question, highlighted the Lib Dem hopeful’s call for another move towards proportional representation.
“If you want lots of referendums vote for Paul Ray.
“I do not believe in having another vote.
“We are a powerful, big country which can stand on its own.”
