Lichfield Round Table gave 19 organisations a share of £6,650 collected as part of their annual tour around the city and surrounding villages with Santa.

Groups including Lichfield Swimming Club, G-Force trampolining club, Friary School PTA, Shenstone Playing Fields, Alrewas Youth Club and Whittington First Responders all received £350 at a presentation ceremony at the George IV pub in the city centre.

Chairman of Lichfield Round Table, Julian Webb, praised the hard work of the volunteers. He said: “This was a superb effort from all concerned and we are again delighted to quickly distribute most of the donations straight to local good causes to help with their important work.

“Bringing so many smiles to families with Santa is always very rewarding for the team, and of course we thank the thousands of residents who came out to see Santa and offer donations. It really does make a big difference to our community.

“As usual we will distributing the balance of the funds raised in December throughout the year, and invite any local individuals or organisations in need of charitable donations for specific purposes to contact us, outlining their requirements in detail. We hope to donate thousands more in 2012.”

Lichfield Round Table is holding a new members evening on January 26 at Rugeley Rifle Club when it will welcome men aged 18-45 wanting to find out more about the organisation to try out shooting and discover more about its active social calendar and activities throughout the year.
