HAMMERWICH cruised to a home victory over Cannock.
Callum Brodrick’s men opted to bat first and reached 48 before the first wicket fell when Imran Qadir was trapped lbw.
But fellow opener Tom Wright struck 67 to move the scoreboard to 140 by the time he was caught by Adil Amin off the bowling of Daniel Wood.
The batting depth in the Hammerwich line-up continued to shine though as Andy Malkin hit a half-century and skipper Brodrick made 72.
But Scott Elstone was the star of the show as he made made an unbeaten 92 off just 51 balls as the home side reached 381-5 in their 50 overs.
The task was always going to be a tough one for Cannock – and they got off to a disastrous start when opener Wood was run out with the very first ball of the innings.
Things got even worse for the visitors when Aarib Khan was caught by Ben Novis off the bowling of Hasnain Nawaz without troubling the scoreboard.
Number three Muhammad Sultan offered some resistance with 33, while Amin also made 67.
But the tail failed to wag as Cannock were skittled out for 150 inside 31 overs.
Ryan Elliott was the pick of the Hammerwich players with the ball as he recorded figures of 3-14, with the wickets shared between all six bowlers.
