A military charity is £3,500 better off after a year of fundraising efforts in the region.
Erica Bayliss, chairman of Staffordshire County Council and councillor for Lichfield Rural South, presented the cheque to Help for Heroes, the nominated charity for her year in office.
Fundraising events have included a collection at last years Civic Service at St Mary’s Church, a music show in the Council Chambers, a dinner and a Charity reception.
Cllr Bayliss said:
“Help for Heroes raises money to support members of the Armed Forces who have been wounded in the service of their country.
“It’s been a pleasure and a privilege to help raise money for this great cause and show these extraordinary young men and women that we care. I would also like to thank the very many other people who have helped with the fund-raising.
“We are very proud of our strong links to the armed forces in Staffordshire and it is always a pleasure to demonstrate this.”
