WORKERS at the site of a new cinema development in Lichfield have been temporarily stopped in their tracks after the discovery of bones.
Teams working on the former Debenhams unit were digging in the area which will eventually form part of a public plaza in front of the new cinema when the unexpected discovery was made.
The bones were at a three-metre depth, forcing workers to pause in the area earlier today (3rd July) while specialists checked their origin.
Lichfield District Council has since confirmed that they are believed to be from a horse.
A spokesperson for the authority said:
"On historical mapping, there may have been stables on a field near there in 1901.
"We are looking to now continue construction on this basis."
