HAMMERWICH were in ruthless form as they secured victory by seven wickets at Wombourne.

The hosts won the toss and opted to bat first, but were soon regretting their choice as opener Sam Flavell was dismissed without scoring.

His replacement Mohammed Bilal Mustafa made just eight before being caught by Imran Qadir off Haider Pervaiz.

Matthew Uglow and Michael Hill rallied for the home side with knocks of 42 and 48 respectively, while Will Evans struck 54 not out as the innings closed on 209-8.

Pervaiz was the pick of the visiting bowlers with figures of 3-47.

Hammerwich suffered an early blow in response as Tom Wright was bowled by Ben Jewkes after scoring just one – and then Callum Brodrick also fell victim to the Wombourne bowler to leave the visitors on 46-2.

But opener Qadir was in fine form as he rattled off an unbeaten 104 from 97 runs, while Scott Elstone made 80 to help Hammerwich pass the total inside 32 overs with just three wickets lost.
