The Lichfield Cathedral Dash is set to welcome a special visitor after it was confirmed that the producer of Chariots of Fire will visit the city in the run-up to the race.
This year marks the 13th running of the event which was inspired by the film and sees athletes compete in a 430 metre sprint around the Cathedral Close within the 58 seconds it takes for the noon bells to chime. To date, less than 50 people have achieved the feat.
And with Chariots of Fire celebrating its 30th anniversary, producer Lord Puttnam will visit the city on July 11 to deliver the first Lichfield Festival lecture at 7pm before the film will is screened outdoors in the Cathedral Gardens at 9.30pm.
Dash organiser Kevin Wilson admits it will be the perfect way to build up to the race on July 16.
