Jonathan Ross has been ruled out of an Ironman event in Lichfield and Burntwood.
The TV presenter had been due to compete in the event next weekend alongside chef Gordon Ramsay after the pair had challenged each other to compete.
But Ross revealed he had been thwarted in his attempt to take on a swim at Chasewater, a bike ride through parts of Lichfield and a run at Shugborough.
He said: “After suffering an injury I’m sadly not able to take part.
“I lost over a stone in training so it’s a great incentive for me to try next year.”
Ramsay is still due to take part in the race on Sunday (June 14).
