Children are being invited to celebrate the art of kite-making and flying in Lichfield.
A workshop is taking place in Beacon Park where youngsters will be able to make their own kite from bamboo canes and lightweight fabric and fly them.
Ruth Witczak, Lichfield District Council’s community and education officer, said:
“Kite fliers know there is something truly magical about flying a kite, and these kites will be extra special as they will be handmade. Children will be able to add their own pictures and patterns to make their kite extra special. It will be great to see Beacon Park alive with dancing kites and excited faces.”
The workshop is aimed at children over the age of five. Children under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. Thee workshop costs £3 and there is no need to book. Visitors will need to go to the Swinfen Broun Pavilion, in the middle of the park, on April 16, anytime between 11am and 3pm. For more information call the park rangers on 01543 308869.
