Labour’s general election candidate Chris Worsey has officially launched his campaign.
West Bromwich’s prospective parliamentary candidate Tom Watson spoke at the launch attended by councillors and local party members.
Mr Worsey said: “We’ve got a great team who are ready, willing and able to make a real difference to the residents of Lichfield, Burntwood and the surrounding villages.
“We have spoken to thousands of people over the last few months and will speak to thousands more before election day.
“Voters here have a real choice. The Conservatives are offering a failing economic plan, widening inequality and downgraded public services whereas Labour’s vision is for a kinder, fairer, more entrepreneurial country with world-class public services.”
Mr Watson – who spoke about social inequality during the launch – said: “Chris is one of our most dynamic councillors and he is doing a brilliant job in Lichfield.
“I’d urge every Labour voter to make sure to vote on May 7. Lichfield and Burntwood have got a strong team that really care about this area. If given the chance they could make a real difference locally.”
The candidates standing in the Lichfield constituency in May are:
