The Liberal Democrats have confirmed their candidate for the General Election.
Paul Ray will contest the seat currently occupied by Conservative MP Michael Fabricant.
He follows in the footsteps of Ian Jackson who won 10,365 votes for the Lib Dems in the 2010 poll.
Local party chair Jenny Pinkett said: “Paul is a massive asset to Lichfield. He impressed tremendously and won the hearts of the local party members at our selection meeting.
“Local people can count on him to fight for them as the election approaches.”
Paul has lived in Lichfield for almost 15 years and is married with three children. He is a partner in a national law firm and specialises in banking and finance, mainly working out of Birmingham.
He said: “The Lib Dems have a great story to tell. In government we have curbed the Tories, introduced strong policies to promote fairness. We stand for a stronger economy and fairer society and for ensuring that in government the Tories act fairly and Labour responsibly.
“We were very proud that 20 per cent of the Lichfield electorate voted for us at the last election and we will be working hard to get their and new supporters’ backing in May.
“So until then we will be making sure that our message is heard loud and clear.”
