Libraries in Lichfield and Burntwood have signed up to support a new campaign that aims to get more people to grow their own vegetables at home.
The BBC’s Dig In campaign is targeted at first-time growers of all ages, but with a particular emphasis on encouraging families to grow and cook together with support from TV and Radio programmes such as CBeebies, The Edible Garden, Gardeners’ World and Nigel Slater’s Simple Suppers.
Staffordshire’s libraries will offer the BBC’s growing guides, as well as offering visitors the chance to borrow books to help them learn more about producing their own food.
County Councillor Ben Adams, Cabinet Member for Communities and Culture said:
“I am delighted that Staffordshire Libraries are using such a worthwhile campaign to encourage customers to grow their own food, something which can be both rewarding and cost effective.”
