Barton’s library could help save taxpayers money after having solar panels installed.
Staffordshire County Council say the move – which has seen 13 libraries fitted with photo-voltaic technology – will result in £350,000 worth of energy savings over the next ten years.
The panels were fitted in July 2012 as part of a bid to cut energy bills.
“Solar power offers a huge win-win situation for both the Council and our local taxpayers alike,” said Cllr Gill Heath.
“The scheme allows us to not only cut our energy costs but generate extra energy that we sell back to the national grid.”
