VOLUNTEERS at a local library have been honoured with The King's Award.
The presentation was made to Shenstone Community Library Association by the Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire, Professor Elizabeth Barnes OBE.
The honour – the highest available for a voluntary organisation – recognises the dedication, skills and service shown by the volunteers.
Lynda Jones, chair of the trustees of Shenstone Community Library, said:
"We are absolutely thrilled to receive this award and to celebrate this very special presentation.
"It is a wonderful recognition of our volunteers, whose generosity and dedication make such a meaningful difference every single day. This honour belongs to every person who has supported Shenstone Community Library and believed in our mission."
The ceremony saw guests, including the High Sheriff of Staffordshire, hear about the ways in which lives are enriched by the activities that take place at the library.
Local resident Chris Rea said:
"The library truly brings people together. It is the hub, the heart and the helping hand of the whole village and beyond. It is worth cherishing and celebrating.
"Everyone involved deserves recognition for their selfless efforts and contribution to this community."
