Businesses have been urged to sign up for new crime alerts.
Staffordshire’s Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner Sue Arnold talked about the new initiative at a meeting of the Business First networking group in Lichfield.
She revealed how crimes against companies in Staffordshire cost an estimated £7,300 an hour.
Mrs Arnold said: “Businesses are the lifeblood of local communities across Staffordshire but times are tough for small retailers and being a victim or robbery, theft, vandalism or online fraud can be enough to drive them into the ground.
“This is about building confidence in the local business community by making sure that crime is taken seriously.”
The new alerts scheme sees companies sent alerts about incidents and crime trends – and around 30 new companies have signed up in the latest drive.
“It was fantastic to get such a good response after reinforcing how we are putting business crime victims at the forefront of our work in this important area,” the Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner added.
