Lichfield and Burntwood’s MP says his success at the ballot box is because he never pretended to be anything other than himself.
Michael Fabricant was again victorious in the General Election as he retained the seat he has held since 1997.
The Conservative MP kept up his record of increasing the majority at every vote, with his latest efforts seeing the margin rise to more than 23,000.
He told Lichfield Live after the result that his policy of standing by his beliefs had paid off.
“If you’re not true to yourself, if you try and be something you’re not, people see through it.
“I’m just Michael Fabricant who says what he wants. And I like to think – in the nicest possibly way – I get things done as an MP.”

Despite stretching his majority, Mr Fabricant admitted that he hadn’t been sure it would happen this time around.
“I’m very relieved. Ever since 1997 it’s gone up, but I wasn’t so convinced this time.
“We had all these scare stories about selling off the NHS and I thought the campaign was a little unpleasant in places, so I wondered whether that would affect the result.
“But apparently not.
