Lichfield and Burntwood owners urged to clean up after their dogs

Published:

Dog owners across Lichfield and Burntwood are being urged to back a campaign to clean up after their pooches.

The call comes as part of the Dogs Trust National Poop Scoop Week event which runs from July 26 to 30.

So far this year, Lichfield District Council’s environmental health officers have issued 42 fines to people who were seen not clearing away after their dogs, and will continue their patrols.

Councillor Ian Pritchard, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing, Health and Environmental Protection, said:

“It’s a shame that a few careless dog walkers give dog owners a bad name. This is why we hope local people will get behind this campaign and always remember to carry a supply of plastic bags, so they can clean away their dog’s mess when out and about.”
