People in Lichfield and Burntwood could be eligible for a £140 discount off their electricity bills.

Energy providers that are enrolled on the Warm Home Discount Scheme automatically apply the £140 discount to customers who receive pension credit.

But Lichfield District Council is warning that as the companies have a fixed amount of funding and offer it on a first come, first served basis, locals should take advantage if they can.

Councillor Colin Greatorex, Cabinet member for housing and health, said: “This discount could be such a lifeline for eligible households that struggle with their energy bills.

“This is why we’re keen to remind our residents, who think they might meet the criteria, to apply for a Warm Home discount.

“Unless you get pension credit, you will need to apply each year, even if you’ve qualified for it before. So, don’t delay, find out if you can get £140 back from your energy provider.”
