Villagers in Lichfield and Burntwood are keeping their fingers crossed after the Best Kept Village judging reached a crucial stage.
The first round has already seen all competing areas visiting and now the panel of judges will make a second visit as they decide which villages will make the district finals in July.
John Perry MBE, chairman of the Best Kept Village Working Group which organises the Competition on behalf of the Community Council of Staffordshire, said:
“Judging is well under way and the early signs are that standards will be very high in many villages and that competition will be keen so it will not be easy to separate some villages. There is still a long way to go in the competition and things will not become clearer until the end of June. Until then, we wish all the villages well in keeping up the high standards which have been seen during May and we hope for good weather for the judges!”
