Lichfield City FC slipped to their 16th defeat of the season as they went down to Heather St Johns.
Gary Birch’s men found themselves a goal down after 12 minutes when Ryan Caputo saw a shot saved before tucking home the rebound.
Ashley Evans and Mark Rose both spurned chances to level as Lichfield grew into the game.
But City found themselves two behind when Kiam Galdins’s effort proved too strong for Ryan Moore to keep out.
Lichfield keeper Moore made another good save at the start of the second period to keep his side’s hopes of salvaging things alive.
Rose found the net five minutes from time to give his side hope, but they were unable to find a leveller in the dying moments.
Lichfield now face two away games to round off their season, starting with a trip to Pilkington XXX tomorrow (April 28).
