Lichfield City FC failed to derail Bromsgrove Sporting’s title challenge after going down 1-0.

The hosts gave Gary Birch’s men an early warning of things to come when keeper Ryan Moore was forced into a smart save from a close range header.

But Lichfield enjoyed their share of an even opening half, even hitting the bar in the last minute of the first 45.

Wood was next to go close for City, before Mark Rose narrowly failed to get on the end of a clever ball from Danny Worrall.

Just as Lichfield appeared to be getting on top, the deadlock was broken by Bromsgrove when Jack Wilson found the net on 71 minutes.

Rose went close to a leveller before Sporting almost put the game beyond doubt with an effort that hit the bar.

The defeat leaves Lichfield 14th in the Midland Football League Division One, with a home game against Heather St Johns next up on April 25.
