Lichfield City FC could not follow up their fine win on Boxing Day as they were made to rue a host of missed chances against a lively Littleton side.
Paul Holt’s men made the worst possible start as they went a goal down in the opening minute, good work by Jamie Clarke saw him tee up Callum Clarke to cooly slot past Craig Johnson.
Lichfield responded well to this early setback and created chances as they dominated possession for long periods.
Ashley Bennett forced Hayden Whitecombe into a smart save, before Jon Huckfield also tested the Littleton keeper from six yards out.
The best chance of the bunch fell to Danny Worrall as his free header from six yards was directed straight at the home stopper.
For all of their possession City still had Johnson to thank as he twice denied the excellent Jamie Clarke as half time was approaching.
As in the opening period, Lichfield were undone straight away from the kick off at the start of the second half. Jamie Clarke raced away to round Johnson and slot into an empty net.
Again City responded well as they piled forward searching for a way back into the game, substitute Kyle Minto denied by the legs of Whitecombe, while Leon Morgan was denied by Minto as the goalbound shot stuck him on back.
Further chances went begging as Dan Thurstance fired over and Morgan did the same.
But Littleton had the final say in injury time when Kevin Ingram found himself with the simplest of finishes.
