LICHFIELD City have finished eighth in the table after a final day defeat at Shepshed Dynamo.
Ivor Green’s men may have been disappointed by the loss, but will be pleased with the outcome of a first ever season playing at step four of the pyramid.
City did get off to the perfect start as a corner eventually saw Jamie Spiers power the ball home with just a minute on the clock.
Shepshed tried to hit back with a header that was wide of the target.
Lichfield continued to probe as Harvey Smith saw his strike kept out by home keeper Dan Wallis.
The hosts pulled level on 15 minutes though when Jude Collins scored from the penalty spot.
Smith went close to restoring City’s lead before the break, but he could only find the side-netting.
Francis volleyed wide in the second half for Lichfield, while at the other end Shepshed saw a strike miss the target.
Smith again went close after he headed past the post from Harry Eden’s cross as the two sides continued to trade chances.
Shepshed got themselves in front on 70 minutes when Jesse Friend fired home through a crowded box.
Five minutes later and the game was put beyond doubt as Friend volleyed home his second of the afternoon.
