A local landmark at the heart of a West Midlands town has been celebrated in a new set of pieces written by a Lichfield-based composer.
David Barton‘s Sutton Park Suite for clarinet and piano paints a musical picture of the many faces of the beauty spot.
David explained:
“The pieces include sketches of Longmoor Pool (II. Pastorale) which dates from the 18th century, and Royal Oak Gate (I. Prelude), and both aim to encompass the wide variety of scenes which the area provides. Also mentioned are the park’s ancient woodlands (IV. Epilogue) and the jamboree celebrating the 50th anniversary of Scouting (III. Danza).”
David is keen to champion music by British composers, and hopes that local musicians and teachers will be proud to use pieces written so close to home.
