A Lichfield conservation group has rounded off a year of events with a bird box building session and Christmas party.
Lichfield District Council’s Countryside and Parks Conservation Group built 40 bird boxes out of recycled wooden pallets left over from Beacon Park’s refurbishment, before donning their Santa hats and enjoying a Christmas party.
Chris Walsh, Lichfield District Council’s biodiversity officer, said: “This event marked the end of the Countryside and Parks Conservation Group’s successful first year.
“The group have worked really hard conserving green spaces across the district, from clearing weeds and brambles at Muckley Corner Common to building an outdoor classroom at Beacon Park.”
The volunteer group will meet again on February 1 to create a fairytale footpath through Beacon Park’s woodland.
