A Lichfield councillor has been accepted as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts
Bernard Derrick, who is also Chairman of Lichfield District Arts Partnership, will join an international community of more than 27,000 achievers and influencers from a wide array of backgrounds and professions.
Cllr Derrick was nominated by the trustees of the society, following his work in the community.
Distinguished by the letters FRSA, Fellows include: social entrepreneurs, scientists, community leaders, commercial innovators, artists, journalists, architects, engineers, and many more.
Cllr Derrick, FRSA, said:
“I am honoured to have been accepted as a Fellow for such a prestigious organisation as the Royal Society of Artists. The art world involves everyone – from children making an awful mess with paint pots, through to the older generation indulging in their favourite hobby. Having been involved in developing art projects across the whole district, I will use my practical experience and contribute to how we can make society better through the art world.”
Cllr David Smith, Leader of Lichfield District Council, added:
“We’re keen to encourage the arts community and we’re delighted Councillor Bernard Derrick’s contribution to the local arts world has been recognised in this way.”
