RISING stars at Lichfield District Council are in the running for regional awards.

A number of staff from the local authority have been shortlisted for the Future Faces Chamber of Commerce's Greater Birmingham Young Professional of the Year honours.

Xavier Walker is hoping to land the Apprentice of the Year title, while Aimiee Hawkins is up for the Events and Hospitality crown.

Also hoping for success at the awards ceremony on 24th September is Morgan Byrne in the Charity and Social Impact category.

They will all take part in a judging day in July where they will face an interview with a panel of senior business leaders.

Sophie Poduval-Morrell, manager of Future Faces, said:

"The talent in this region never ceases to amaze me. Huge congratulations to all those who have been shortlisted this year.

"The competition is tough – it is a region full of passionate and driven young people and these awards are all about showcasing that."
