The Lichfield Festival is once again promising to bring a celebration of the arts to the city.

The Festival gets underway tomorrow and runs for ten days with a mixture of music, theatre and much, much more.

Festival Director Richard Hawley explained why anticipation is so high ahead of the event:

“Once again, the Lichfield Festival is on the cusp of bringing the very best of national and international arts to Lichfield over the next ten days. With over 400 artists visiting from over ten countries, all of us in Lichfield are once again in for a huge celebration of the arts. We have an incredible variety of events, from one man operatic thrillers to full symphony orchestras. We have more family events than in previous years, from our especially commissioned storytelling Dreamfighter event to family films.

“Our annual Market will be a Georgian Market to help celebrate Johnson’s tercentenary, and the Festival Fireworks will once again mark the final night, something we’ve done for 28 years in a row.

“I believe festivals, with their concentrated bursts of activity, are needed more at times like this than at almost any other. It is a wonderful way to spend good value time with friends and family and invest in future memories. There will be events on this year that will be familiar, and those that feel strange. I would encourage audiences to try something new this year.

“Don’t forget that students can get £5 tickets on the door to any event, subject to availability.”
