The Lichfield Garrick has missed out on £30,000 of Arts Council funding.
However, theatre-goers have been reassured that it will not impact on the venue’s offerings.
But the Garrick’s artistic and executive director Adrian Jackson did reveal that they were seeking to make “innovative” cuts and would be reviewing how it delivers live music.
He told The Lichfield Blog:
“We were encouraged by the Arts Council to apply for £30,000 funding this year, but unfortunately our application was unsuccessful.
“To continue delivering a great service to our customers, we’re carrying on with our drive to boost income and find innovative ways to cut our costs. As part of this, we’re looking at how we deliver free live music sessions in the Garrick.
“Because live music is so popular, we’re not only working to ensure it continues, we’re also hoping to attract an even wider audience by opening up the sessions to more local bands, including young performers.”
