Lichfield Garrick star Barney Harwood has been named as the new Blue Peter presenter.
The 31-year-old is currently starring in a production of Peter Pan at the city’s theatre, but will join the iconic children’s TV show after the end of his run.
The entertainer told the BBC he was looking forward to taking on some “exciting challenges” in the role.
He will replace Joel Defries alongside Blue Peter’s regular hosts Helen Skelton and Andy Akinwolere from January 17.
