A jobs fair in Lichfield has been helping people with an illness or disability get back into work.
Run by Bromford and Job Centre Plus, the event at the Guildhall last week also showcased training and volunteering opportunities.
Organisers say that in the Lichfield District Council area, 4,070 people receive out-of-work benefits, of which 2,940 are in receipt of a disability or health-related benefit.
Michelle Huffadine, from Job Centre Plus, said: “Customers in receipt of Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) have such lot to offer and are such a valuable asset with untapped talent so we are keen to support them to find work and fulfil their potential.
“We have been working in collaboration with Bromford for years and have a shared agenda to improve everyone’s life – we don’t want anyone to feel isolated.
“We look to help people so no one is left behind.”
The event saw 17 differnet employers and training providers attend.
Michael Pritchard, from Bromford, said: “We were delighted that so many people attended.
“There was a real buzz about the place and we hope that everyone has gone away with more awareness of what’s available and a desire to take the next step and expand their horizons.
“As this has been so successful, we will definitely be looking to organise more events like this.”
