Secretary of the CAMRA branch, Adam Randall, said: “Lichfield has many fine pubs, but The Whippet has brought a extra dimension to the city with it’s fine diverse choice of quality ales and ciders.”

The pub is run by local couple Paul Hudson and Debbie Henderson and has already gained a reputation for real ales – with more than 482 different types served so far alongside 103 different kinds of cider.

The owners said: “We are very proud to have achieved prestigious accolades in our first year.

“A great big thank you to all of our loyal customers for playing their part in our success.”
