Lichfield’s MP has revealed he has been forced to hide in an office following an armed incident in Westminster.

Reports of gunshots and videos of emergency services in the area have emerged on social media.

Michael Fabricant posted on Twitter about the situation inside the House of Commons:

I was walking briskly to a vote when crowds of MPs rushed towards me saying that shots have been fired and shouts of 'get back'.

Reports say an armed individual had been shot by police.

Mr Fabricant added: “Glad police shot the terrorist.

“My prayers are with the brave police officer who was attacked.”
