A Lichfield pub boss has been fined £800 for flouting the conditions of his licence to sell alcohol.
Greg Mason, 31, licensee of Samuels in Market Street, appeared before magistrates at Burton on May 9 where he pleaded guilty to numerous licensing breaches.
They occurred on December 3 and 17, 2010 and included:
- not having a Security Industry Authority-registered door supervisor on duty
- no CCTV system in operation
- no training records
- no completed incident forms produced
- no records of toilet checks taking place to ensure drug taking was not occurring
- no detailed age-restricted posters displayed.
Inspector Ashley Farrington, Head of Staffordshire Police’s Licensing Unit, said:
“This fine sends a clear signal that having a licence to sell alcohol is a responsibility. Failure to comply is serious. The conditions are there to ensure the safety of the public. We work closely with the majority of good licensees across the county but, together with our partners, will tackle those that are causing problems to the community. We are committed to reducing alcohol-related violence and anti-social behaviour.”
The breaches were discovered as part of an overall increase in police inspections of licensed premises.
