A Lichfield schoolgirl is celebrating after being crowned a regional Irish dancing champion.

Heidi Hawkes, 11, claimed the Midlands Regional crown for the third successive year at the competition in Coventry.

The King Edward VI School student saw off rivals from across the region to win the under 11 championship.

It was a successful competition for Heidi as she was also part of the victorious under 12 ceili team with her dancing colleagues from the Birmingham-based Kidd School.

The wins will see the Lichfield youngster head to Dublin in 2020 to compete at the World Irish Dancing Championships.
