A Lichfield scout group leader has scooped a regional volunteering award.
Angela Burns was recognised for her work over the past 25 years as she landed the Outstanding Leadership accolade in the 2012 Volunteer Staffordshire Awards.
After joining the scouting movement, Angela has helped boost the ranks so they now boast five sections and 160 members.
She even rejected a promotion to district commissioner level in order to keep the local groups strong.
Staffordshire County Councillor Pat Corfield, Cabinet member for Culture, Communities and Customers said: “I would like to congratulate Angela and James and thank them for all the selfless work that they carry out in their communities.
“The independent panel of judges were delighted with the standard of entries in all of the categories, but Angela really did stand out.
“Her volunteering work is marvellous and it shouldn’t be underestimated how much she has contributed to the local area and Staffordshire.
“The awards reflect the wide range of ways that people are making a real and vital difference to the community. We truly appreciate the amazing work that they all do for the people of Staffordshire.”
