A Lichfield organisation offering psychological support for children who have suffered trauma is celebrating after being rated outstanding by OFSTED.
It is the third time that community interest company The Child Psychology Service (TCPS) has achieved the rating.
The inspector praised therapists who “are instrumental in advocating for children and their parents”.
The report continued:
“This results in children making exceptional progress in all areas of their lives.
“All children spoken to shared that the service had a positive impact on their life.”

The service was created by Dr Amber Elliott, a consultant clinical psychologist and successful author, in 2011 and now employs 19 members of staff supporting children to overcome complex trauma.
She said:
“When I set up TCPS, it was to help and support children who had suffered neglect and trauma in their early stages of development, particularly those that had been adopted or looked-after and were presenting with complex issues severely affecting their lives and those of their families.
“I am so proud of what the team has since achieved, working with approximately 240 children per year, not to mention navigating the pandemic in continuing to support the most vulnerable children online, which has not always been easy.
“The inspector and I had a moment when we were both in tears listening to what parents and young people had said about what a difference the work with us had made to their lives.
“It is such a privilege to do this work.”
