The Lichfield teenager described as a good-looking Mick Hucknall by Simon Cowell has made headlines around the country.

Seventeen-year-old rugby player Shaun Smith wowed the audience and judge’s on Britain’s Got Talent and is the latest singing star to emerge from the series.

And his performance has also had tongues wagging up and down the country with The Sun describing his audition as “simply amazing” and Scotland’s STV debates whether or not the Lichfield youngster could be a challenger to their own Susan Boyle in the battle to win the chance to perform at The Royal Variety Show.

The Manchester Evening News – in Mick Hucknall’s home-town – also carried a report of the comparison between Shaun and the former Simply Red Star.
